Matt Hooper promoted to Partner at Inherent Risks in London



London, UK - 22nd January, 2024 - Global risk advisory and crisis response firm, Inherent Risks has bolstered its senior leadership team with the appointment of a new Partner and Director in London.


Matt Hooper joined Inherent Risks in February 2022 and was immediately deployed to Ukraine in a risk advisory role within days of Russia’s invasion. He spent the following 12-months permanently based in the region, and for the past 11-months he has travelled to Ukraine for extended periods in support of client operations.


In his tenure at Inherent Risks, Matt has gained significant geopolitical risk experience and has established robust intelligence, logistics, medical and security networks across Ukraine, and across North America and the Middle East, further enabling the firm to effectively operate and respond in challenging regions.


Serving the firm as a partner, Hooper will continue to develop cross-sector opportunities, collaborating closely with experts across the business to strengthen Inherent Risks’ position in the market, and win new clients’.


With insurers’ and international organisations’ operating in challenging regions increasingly keen not to be caught out as they have been over the past 12-months, Inherent Risks report seeing a noticeable shift in the emphasis that these companies now place on proactively identifying and mitigating issues to save time, money and lives; and improve business outcomes.


Hooper brings 25-years experience to Inherent Risks, starting his career with HM Forces in a specialist role, before transitioning across to the private security sector. He honed his skills and abilities in the demanding landscapes of the Middle East and Africa, with extensive experience providing close protection in Iraq and Afghanistan, and security consultancy in Libya and Nigeria. Notably, he has played a crucial role in executing high-risk extractions for blue-chip companies of foreign citizens during periods of political instability, social unrest and natural disasters.
