Mark Butler is a Partner at Inherent Risks, and serves as a Consultant to the Executive Team.

Mark’s career in the insurance sector covers over 30-years, during which he has developed an enormous level of international experience covering Europe, North America, South Africa, and Asia.

Prior to joining Inherent Risks in October 2021, Mark served as CEO for Europ Assistance, a position he held for 15-years in Ireland, establishing the business from a greenfield operation, and growing gross written premiums to €300m, with business units across the sectors of travel insurance, international private medical insurance, roadside assistance, and vehicle extended warranty.

Mark has successfully established a number of captive (re)insurance vehicles in Dublin for several blue chip corporations providing international risk transfer solutions across different classes of business. He has also developed a number of innovative COVID-19 insurance solutions in conjunction with specialist partners and risk carriers.

Mark graduated with an Honours Degree in Economics and Philosophy from Trinity College in Dublin.
